Idea We Love: The Photo Bus

Photo booths are a crazy popular trend for weddings, and they don’t seem to be going anywhere.  What could be better than a fun memory from your event that guests can take right away?  Instant gratification, and the spontaneous nature of a photo booth are just a few of the things that people love so much about them.  I was working a wedding open house recently and John DePrisco was there with his Photo Bus.  I thought it was such a fun concept, a new take on the photo booth, and the VW van that it travels in is just too cute.  I could just imagine it pulling up to an wedding, and parking right out front as guests line up.  If you’re a Kansas City couple I would definitely look into the Photo Bus from John DePrisco Photography for your event!

Real Weddings: Bethany and Dylan, Coffeyville, Kansas

When Kimberlee of Simple Splendor Photography sent me an e-mail submitting Bethany and Dylan’s wedding I had no idea what I was in for. One click through to her blog later, and I was in love. Not only is their wedding beautiful at first glance, a closer inspection reveals all the little tiny details that went into making their day uniquely theirs. Plus there were many hand made and DIY projects, which always add that little extra touch of love to an already amazing day.

Who, What, Where ~~ Ceremony and Reception: Cedar Bluff Camp.  Photography: Simple Splendor.  Cake: Laurel Street Bakery.  Dress: Abelina’s Bridal.  Flowers: DIY by mother of bride and her aunts.

Bethany had a vision for what she wanted her wedding to look like before Dylan popped the question.  Once he asked her, she went straight to her mom, a talented seamstress to help her make her grand vision come to life.

Bridesmaids wore beautiful black and white dresses from Mori Lee.

Part one of Bethany’s “grand vision” for the ceremony was a black and white striped tent, and aisle runners, both of which her mom created, along with adorable black and white striped flags monogrammed with a red sequin D and B.  She also sewed the sweet flower girl baskets, and ring bearer pillows.

Bethany’s beautiful bouquet, and those of her bridesmaids were made of blush garden roses she ordered online from fiftyflowers.com.  Her mother and aunts assembled them the night before the wedding, tying each with a simple white bow.

At the reception guests were greeted with a welcome table full of vintage mason jars and refreshing pink lemonade.  Manila tie tags stamped with the couples initials let guests label their drinks to avoid mix ups.  There were also lawn games like croquet, horseshoes, and cornhole for entertainment.

A home made photo wall, using the same stripe motif and a gold vintage frame, made for some fun shots of the wedding party and guests.  What a great idea!

Besides being a talented seamstress, Bethany’s mom is also super thrifty.  She loved the idea of using vintage finds from flea markets and rummage sales for the decor.  She collected all the milk glass bud vases for the reception tables, which they filled with white taper candles, and roses.  Mismatched white dinner and cake plates were also collected, and then later re-used by a friend for her wedding.  Burlap covered the tables, and paper doilies added a little extra touch or romance.  Once all the candles were the lit the effect was stunning.

The cake knife and topper were both family heirlooms that Bethany’s parents used on their wedding cake. They’ve been married 44 years and won the “Anniversary Dance” at the reception.

After lots of dancing it was time for a send off with sparklers and fireworks.  Bethany and Dylan said that their family, and especially Bethany’s mom, were instrumental in pulling their celebration off.  Their so grateful for everyones hard work and sacrifices that made it all happen.

A big giant thank you go Bethany and Dylan for sharing all the details about their beautiful day, and also to Kimberlee of Simple Splendor Photography for her submission!
