Give-away: Love Never Fails

I don’t usually do give-aways on the blog, but when Robert, from Rojo Foto contacted me about Love Never Fails, I just couldn’t say no.  It’s the second year he’s doing it, and after reading last years story about the lucky winners Gina and Jordan, I thought it was definitely something that needed to be shared with Middle of the Maps readers.  I’ll let Robert’s words and pictures tell you more.

My name is Robert Johnson, and I love a good love story. I love them so much, in fact, that I’ve dedicated my life’s work to capturing them in photographs. And I’ve worked with enough couples to know that every love story is a good one—full of sweetness, tenderness, plus twists and turns and inevitably, moments where love truly conquers all.

What’s your love story? Has your love overcome sickness or tragedy? Did it beat the odds? When you think of your upcoming wedding, do you think of it as the pinnacle moment of celebration after all you’ve been through together…and also the moment of an adventure just beginning?

Well, then it should be shared with all—and rewarded!

I’m getting together with a local florist to offer you a chance to win an amazing wedding package for your 2012 wedding!

Here’s what is included:

  • Wedding day photography coverage and a custom designed photo album from rojo foto//design (valued at over $1950)
  • A complete wedding ceremony floral package from Forget Me Knodt flowers – that’s bouquets, boutonnieres, corsages, and all your ceremony décor, too (valued at $1500).

We will even travel to a destination up to 200 miles from Aurora, Illinois!

Newlyweds: Amanda and Nick, Chicago, Illinois

I think the photographer for this newlywed session Jason Kaczorowski offers such a great description I thought I’d let his quote set the scene for Amanda and Nick’s pictures:

Amanda and Nick opted instead of posing for an engagement session prior to their wedding to have a sunrise shoot captured shortly following their honeymoon. The early morning post wedding portraits were photographed along Lake Michigan, the Chicago skyline, at Navy Pier and near the Kinzie Street Bridge by a vibrant yellow garage door. They utilized the handmade tissue paper flower arrangements Amanda created for her reception centerpieces and photographed the location where Nick popped the question to Amanda on the doorstep of the couples adjoining apartments where the two lived as neighbors while falling in love.

Engagement Session: Mallory and Adam

One thing that I love about engagement sessions is the laid back feel they always have.  It’s a chance for couples to relax, enjoy each others company and take some adorable pictures.  I think that the excitement for their big day, and love for each other is always written all over their faces.  I adore these pictures from Mallory and Adam’s e-session for all these reasons, and also for the soft glowing light that Maren Delaney captured with her lens.

Inspiration: Love Birds

Tuesdays all about inspiration here at Middle of the Map.  Shea and Derek aren’t engaged, and they aren’t newlyweds either.  Instead they’ve been married for 3 years.  I think it’s so fun that this shoot features a couple that has been married for awhile, and instead of focusing on a “special occasion”, they’re celebrating the love they have for each other.  Thanks so much to Morgan of Blue Ampersand for her images!

Real Midwest Weddings: Danielle and Peter, Jefferson City, Missouri

Today’s couples love story plays out much like a fairy tale, or a romantic hollywood movie.  Peter and Danielle were neighbors as kid.  They played together, and his Mom even babysat her while her parents were at work.  As they grew up they both moved their separate ways.  Five years ago, thanks to the magic of modern technology, they became facebook friends, and did a little bit of catching up, but then left it at that.  A few months later they recognized each other while out with friends, and the rest is history.  Or as Danielle puts it “complete bliss!”

Who, What, Where ~~ Ceremony: St. Peter Catholic Church.  Reception: La Maison.  Photography: Ryan Gladstone.  Flowers: River City Florist.  Event Planner: The Bridal Solution.  Caterer: Argyle Catering.  Cake: Melissa’s All About Cakes. Cupcakes: Pink Cupcake, Columbia, MO.

While planning their wedding Danielle turned to many a wedding blog for inspiration, such as Ruffled, Green Wedding Shoes, and also Etsy for hand made inspirations.  People often remark that her and Peter are “old souls”.  They love all things vintage, and listening to records together.  Danielle wanted their day to have vintage, rustic elements, but still wanted to create an event that was uniquely theirs.

For her something olds, Danielle wore a sixpence in her shoe that Peter’s mom wore on her wedding day, and she had her Grandmother’s rosary strung through her bouquet.

For the reception Danielle and Peter did a few DIY projects including two old shutters that they converted into chalk boards to display their menu and drink list, and some sparkly sign which they hung over the vintage suitcase that served as a card box.  For favors they created CD’s of their favorite music and designed the covers to look like an old record case.

A wishing tree was created out of curly willow branches in a planter, that guests hung their messages to the newlyweds on.

Don’t worry, he didn’t smash the cake in her face.  Since Danielle and Peter’s wedding was on the eve of Halloween, they had a mix of masks, fake mustaches, and other fun costume props available at the reception for their guests to have fun with while bustin’ a move on the dance floor.

I asked Danielle what her favorite part of their day was:

Everything.  The feeling of marrying your soul mate is completely surreal, and being surrounded by your family and friends all day to celebrate that was amazing.  I will say that we hired a really great band for our reception, and constantly want to relive that moment because they really topped everything off!

A big thank you to Danielle and Peter for sharing all the details of their lovely day, and also to Ryan Gladstone for submitting his lovely images.  I’ve also included Danielle and Peter’s Engagement in the gallery below.  As Danielle said, they love all things vintage, and did an adorable shoot out at Peter’s grandparents farm.  It was just too cute not to include.
