It's March so spring is just around the corner, and here in the midwest we've finally started to thaw out. However Jessica and Ryan's winter wedding is just to beautiful not to share. The couple loves simple, natural textures, which was the main inspiration for their day. They also had some fun surprises for their guests, including bartending for the first hour of their reception, and role swapping for the bouquet and garter toss. Our favorite detail? The gorgeous fur shawl that Jessica wore, and yes, it's a family heirloom, which makes it even more lovely. A huge thank you to Jessica and Ryan for sharing the details of their day, and to Bernadette Pollard Photography for the lovely images.
From the bride, Jessica...
Ryan and I met at Wells Fargo, and started dating in the spring of 2010. Ryan loves to clarify that I asked him out, which is true. I asked him if he'd like to go running together sometime, so our first date was a run around Lake Calhoun. A few weeks after that he sang "Purple Rain" to me, at the top his lungs, while we were driving around in his car, and I knew I was totally hooked.
Ryan and I love simple and natural textures, colors and lighting, so that's where a lot of the inspiration for the wedding came from.
My favorite heirloom from the wedding day is definitely my grandmother's fur shawl. She received the shawl as a gift in the 50s, and I was so honored to be able to wear it for the wedding. And my favorite wedding moment was definitely when Ryan and I were saying our vows, and the big official kiss. I've never been more happy or in love than in that moment.
