Erin and Tristan have known each other for a long time (since she was 12, and he was 15), but their romance didn’t begin until many years later. Both are musicians, and as Erin puts it “It was very romantic falling in love on the road” as they toured with the band they both play in. A small backyard affair in her father’s backyard , their event is one that has all those personal touches that make a wedding so special. Plus Erin’s BHLDN dress is just to die for. A big thank you to Erin for sharing all the details of their day, and to Justine Bursoni for her submission.
Even more loveliness…
From the bride, Erin…
Tristan and I actually met when we were quite young, maybe I was 11 o 12. He would’ve been 14 or 15. He was friends first with my older brother Seth. They started a band together when they were in early high school and i always had a crush on Tris. I was a few years younger which felt like worlds younger at the time. So, time passed, we went to college and eventually I joined a band with Tristan and both of my brothers. Over time we both realized that we loved each other and the rest is history. At first, my brothers were not to happy because they were worried we’d ‘break up the band’. It was very romantic falling in love on the road and later starting our own band.
The colors and themes for our wedding just came after doing some research. Looking at other wedding blogs and pinterest. We never really chose just two colors because we didn’t want our wedding to be too matchy matchy. But, for the dresses we chose charcoal grey and had the girls just pick out their own dress keeping in mind a slightly feminine aesthetic. We decided we were having a garden wedding because his father is a biologist and has the most beautiful back garden.
As far as handmade projects go, we did quite a few. We made what we wound up calling ‘glow jars’ by taking mason jars and decoupaging them with yellow tissue. We used battery powered little candles because inside the jars you couldn’t see them. They were so pretty once night fell! Oh and also, since i am a bartendress as well as a musician, designed a wedding cocktail for the night. We called it the ‘holy commitment cucumber gimlet’. It turned out really well!
There were so many favorite parts of our wedding it’s hard to choose! I remember the two of us walked out on the deck at the reception and saw the backyard for the first time. It was so gorgeous and everyone clapped and we both felt so loved. That was a magical moment for us both.
