Let me start this post by saying that I had a really tough time narrowing down what images to use for Gretchen and Sean’s wedding. There were SO many adorable details in their day, and Lemon Lime Photography captured everything perfectly. From her textural bouquet, to the fresh color palette of blue, coral, and gold, to the beautiful location there’s just so many great things about it! And as much of a floral geek as I am, the simple arrangements of blue mason jars with candles are so beautiful (much like Ellen and Brian’s wedding also shot by Lemon Lime). But enough gushing, here’s their story (from the bride):
Sean & I meet at college (University of Cincinnati) during homecoming week. We ran into each other at Dollar Drafts on Campus (which is an event put on by one of the fraternities) and started talking. After that night, we kept running into each other all week at different places and we eventually realized that he lived one block from me. I started going over to his house to hang out (on the porch) and then we just started dating! We met in October, which is why we wanted to get married in the same month, five years later.

Gretchen’s inspiration originally started with the blue vintage Ball mason jars. After going to a few antique malls with Sean and purchasing the jars for their home, she found an inspiration photo with a table filled with them with candles inside. She says that was it, she knew that she wanted to use them right at that moment, and ended up collecting about 280 of them. She made a mood board and found a picture of the bouquet she wanted which inspired the rest of the palette. They wanted their event to feel vintage and rustic, but have an overall casual vibe.
Bridesmaids wore coral colored dresses inspired by the bouquet, and the men all had custom ties made by a friend at Gretchen’s work. Her bouquet was wrapped with leftover fabric to match.
Their ceremony was performed by the same pastor that married Gretchen’s parents, which was one of the highlights of the day. For the ceremony decor they placed white and grey pumpkins along the aisle, with DIY glitter leaves for a little bit of extra sparkle.
At the reception the escort cards were tags that Gretchen hand wrote with vintage keys attached to each. They also hung photos of family and friends for guests to look at as they picked up seat assignments and signed the guest book.
Gretchen created adorable bride and groom signs to hang on the back of her and Sean’s chairs, and also collected, and painted display pieces such as antique milk stools for the dessert table display.
One of Gretchen and Sean’s favorite parts of the night was sitting on the steps of the porch of the lodge listening to the toasts. They spent 90% of their getting to know you time while dating on the front porch of his fraternity talking the night away. Gretchen’s other favorite part of the reception was dancing with her dad to “My Girl”, and whistling along to the tune.
