Todays post is from another one of Middle of the Maps talented contributors. I’ve been reading Ashley’s blog a+joy for awhile now, and she does adorable DIY projects, home decor, and style posts. However she has begun steering her blog more toward DIY projects for parties, table scapes, and event styling. Obviously all of these things go hand in hand with weddings, and she became the DIY guru for Middle of the Map. For her very first project today she’s created some adorable shower favors that anyone could make, so here’s Ashley:

All winter my family has been eating up oranges and Cuties. The citrus peeler has become a kitchen tool we use daily. I started thinking about what a wonderful and non budget-shattering gift a citrus peeler would make for guests at parties, showers, or weddings. Then this simple little favor idea came to me as I thought of a cute couple I know getting married in less than a week. They truly are a “couple of cuties.”
What you will need:
- some pretty ribbon
- two Cuties per favor
- a citrus peeler (the one shown is from Crate and Barrel)
- a custom label with clever wording and a wrap around label to add to the bottom of the box as an extra design element to jazz it up a bit (made and designed by me)
- a gable box (the one shown is from xpedx)
- some paper shred packaging
Step One: Drill a hole in the citrus peeler. The hole will allow you to tie it to the box in a very pretty way. I was a bit worried about drilling the hole and if there would be any complications, but the drilling was extremely easy to do.
Step Two: Put the box together. Fill with paper shred and add the Cuties. Close up the box.
Step Three: Thread the pretty ribbon through the citrus peeler and label. Tie securely to the box. Also add the wrap around label with double stick tape to the bottom of the box.
Step Four: Repeat steps one through three until all your favors are complete!
