Real Midwest Weddings: Erin and Eric, St. Paul, Minnesota

It seems like this week on Middle of the Map has been all about Minnesota (see yesterdays post about the fabulous Urbane Montage Events).  I’m so excited to share today’s real wedding, because not only are Erin and Eric a picture perfect couple, the flowers are amazing.  A little out of the ordinary with beautiful textural elements like cockscomb, green trick, and billy balls, and of course some bright colors.  Be still my heart!

Who, What, Where ~~ Ceremony: St. Francis of Assisi.  Reception: Minnesota History Center.  Photographer: Erin Johnson Photography.  Florist: Lydia Jane Floral.  Cake: A Piece of Cake.  Hair: Ashlen McDonough at Mixx Salon.  Gown and Bridesmaids: Priscilla of Boston.  Flower Girl Dresses: Carmelle Elizabeth.

It’s easy to see that Erin has amazing style.  Every bride’s dress is beautiful, but it’s the accessories that really set an individual apart from the crowd.  Erin’s shoes are by JCrew, and she wore a beautiful statement pearl cuff, along with a floral fascinator.  Her multi-circle earrings were modern fresh take on the typical bridal jewelry.

For the theme and decor of the day Erin says she wanted everything to be clean, crisp, fun and a little bit funky.  She loves polka dots and round shapes, so this theme was used throughout the day, from accessories, to flowers, and stationary.

Boutonniere made of green trick, bill balls, and decorative wire.

Bouquet in red, orange, yellow, and white, with pin cushion protea, asters, and chamomile.

Green pom pom mum pomanders with pearl pin accents.

Erin chose a bright, fresh color palette of clover green and cantaloupe, with little pops of yellow and ivory/ white as an accent color.

Hand made orange flower girl dresses.

Erin and Eric wanted to take pictures in more rustic setting, to act as a counterpoint to their bright modern color palette.  Some of their favorite shots were in an old worn down parking lot.  Erin loved the contrast, and said it made for a laid back, fun shoot.

Erin and her mom worked together to design the wedding invites, programs, and escort cards to coordinate.  They also created the table number for the reception, which featured Erin and Eric’s dog, who she says is “like their child”, but couldn’t be a part of the celebration.

The reception tables were decorated with modern fun arrangements including fresh grass in containers, and fresh flowers, along with green pomanders to continue the circle theme.

  4. This is absolutely fantastic and gorgeous!!

Do you mind me asking what flowers you used, specifically the gorgeous yellow in the bouquet photographed alone as well as the orangish yellow flowers in the vased centerpiece? One last one being the bigger orange flower in the bride/groom card centerpiece (not the ranunculus)?

Thank you!! This wedding is soo amazingly fresh and fun!

One last comment, where did the bride get the flower girl dresses from? I am using orange in my wedding and all of this makes my heart skip a beat!!!
