The minute I saw Jocelyn and Torsten’s wedding I knew it would be a perfect fit for Middle of the Map. Simple, clean, elegant, but still completely unique. There’s beautiful photography compliments of Jaclyn Simpson, and a fun reception focused on family and friends. Plus her dress…so amazing right?
Who, What, Where~~~Peoria, IL. Ceremony: Sacred Heart. Reception and Caterer: Hotel Pere Marquette. Photography: Jaclyn Simpson. Flowers: Geier Florist. Cake: Wedding Cake Connection. Dress: Mira Couture.
Jocelyn said her dress was inspired by a design she saw on Project Runway. She went to Mira Couture in Chicago with her ideas, and they changed the dress design to better suit her. The dress was made from scratch, and is a one of a kind just for Jocelyn.
Jocelyn and Torsten were married at the beautiful Sacred Heart Church in downtown Peoria.
When I asked how they decided their theme and colors, Jocelyn said they designed the cake first, and then chose everything from there. The cake was definitely the centerpiece of their reception:
Torsten and Jocelyn wanted something fun and whimsical, and Dr. Suess immediately came to mind. Brought to life by Barb Evans at the Wedding Cake Connection, the amazing primary colored confection was complete with lots of little details, including moving gears.
Using primary colors as their accents they kept the decor simple, adding strings of lights to the ballroom, which reflected in all the mirrors throughout the ballroom. A few primary color accents were used in the personal flowers and linens, but Jocelyn said they didn’t want to go over the top with decorations. They kept their day stress free, and focused their reception on family and friends.
A photo booth provided by Event Pro Photography, kept everyone entertained, and also served as a creative guest book of fun memories from the evening. Jocelyn says they loved having it, and will enjoy looking at the pictures for years to come!
Thanks so much to Jocelyn and Torsten for sharing their day with us, and to Jaclyn Simpson for her beautiful images.
